Poetry Thursday Guest Post–A Light in the Woods (Poetry by Kathy Kroll)

This poem is special to me because it is inspired by a B&W photograph by my sister.  If you have ever felt drawn into another world and yet felt that you are fated to remain in place, I hope you will enjoy this poem.

A Light in the Woods

Silver and airy
As a wood sprite
At play,
You beckon me
With otherworld promises.
My mind extends
Outward
To grasp your magic.
But you part at my touch as
Before the staff of Moses.
Unlike a shimmering Aurora
In undulating purple and green
I am paralyzed, mesmerized.
A sylph,
Caught between
Two spheres,
Neither can I go
Forward or
Backward.
